Kiddos,
Today, we started reading picture books about perseverance. Our first book was called Courage. We talked about different kinds of courage. Courage to go on a roller coaster, courage to tell the teacher when you've done something wrong, and courage to be the first to do something. I notice courage when students raise their hand to ask a question. This tells me they aren't afraid of what their classmates will think of them and they care about their learning. I also notice courage when I ask a question, and the student who is the only one who agrees, still raises his/her hand.
When you think of the word courage or perseverance, what comes to your mind? What have you had to have an extraordinary amount of courage to face or overcome?

For me, courage is anything new. No matter what it is, every time I try something new, it takes tons of courage. So for me, courage is no specific thing.
I think courage means doing some things for the first time and not caring what other people think. I said in class that I think courage is having poise and do things your way or your idea way. Then, I would have to agree with Angel's idea which I kinda thought of to.... So Happy Monday Mrs.Martin!!

Hi Mrs.Martin! I think courage is when you try something that you are scared to do but you try it, even though you are afraid.It is overcoming your fears. This summer, while swimming, I decided that I wanted to go on the high diving board because my friend said I should go with her because it was her first time too. I was very scared when I climbed to the top because it was so high. But I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped off. It was fun! I went on again and again. I was so glad that I had gone on the high diving board, and now I'm not scared! It took a lot of courage, but I did it!
I think courage is trying new things and overcoming your fears.
I agree with Angel that it takes tons of courage to try something new. After trying something new, it might turn out a lot of fun.

When I went to my new gymnastics place, I thought I wouldn't do as well because I would have to do what the people in the olympics do. When I started the class, it took courage for me to do my best. Then after, I realized I did very well! Courage has tought me that even when you are scared, you could do well when you are trying to do what you like! Even if you don't like something, you should try it and see if you like it!

I think courage to me is minor because I am always shy and scared of things. I should try to be more courage on things that I'm not so good at.=)

courage reminds me of 2nd grade in Mrs.Hartunian's when she would give us these courage cards on share day 4 sharing an iteam when we had ten cards she would tie them on a string and we would get to wear it i remember felling so proud wearing it around the school and other places. now it's way to embarrising!! I was such a dork!!

When I think of courage I think of diving into a pool. Personaly I hate being upside down.

Hi Mrs. Martin!!As you might know by now im staying home. I already posted my comments about "Perseverance" and I was wondering can you please ask Steven and David what the questions are for the Uranus tests. It will really be helpful but if you cant its ok I understand. Just please it will be really helpfull. And by the way M-TEAM RULES!!!!!!

I think courage means bravery or to not care about what other people might say about your answer.On every one of my recitals,I took a lot of courage because I have a lot of stage fright.When I start playing, I don't know what's going on.My fingers just move.From now on,I will try to not have stage fright.Bye m-team queen!
