I got the job!!!

Well, I interviewed on Friday and an hour or so later got the call saying that I was hired! YAY!!! I'll be on the Walnut side, going to 5 different elementary schools doing kindergarten P.E. for 2.5 days (50%). I'm so glad to be back in the district!!! I'm also teaching a K-1 class on Fridays down in my area. Who knew I'd be teaching kindergarten, huh? :)

I'm so happy!! It's exactly what we need to provide for us and yet I still get to be home with my boy half of the time, too. Just wanted to share the good news!

More later...

August already?

It's always about this time when I wonder where the summer went! :) July was a super busy month spent traveling, having family in and celebrating Kyle's 1st birthday! Thanks James, for remembering!! :) I'll post a few pictures of what we've been up to.

During our trip to Oregon, we stayed here...

Kyle's 1st birthday!!! Since he's LOVED his little "Mr. Fish" for so many months, we threw him a Fish Party!!

Happy Summer!!

You're done!!! Are you so relieved? Sad? Looking forward to summer? What are your plans? Tell me, tell me!

Do you like the new background? I'll keep changing it up just to make life interesting. I've been super busy lately, taking care of my grandma. Ru's been sick and Kyle is getting 2 more teeth at the moment. Busy times... but very happy, too. I will post some stories and pictures, soon.

Take care!

What's new?

For Valerie... what a sweetie! Thanks for asking to "see" me. This was yesterday. We took Shmu out for his first ever bike ride. I miss you, too!
Hi my M-Team kids!
How are you today? I'm missing you a lot. I often think of you when I use something you gave me like a toy or a stroller, a book or basically anything in Kyle's room. Even when I throw away a poopy diaper... I think of Jessica! :)(She gave us our diaper champ.) You all were so generous at our first ever baby shower!! That was so much fun. I can look around anywhere in my house and see something that someone gave me. And I think how lucky I was to be your teacher. To have the sweetest, best, most caring and talented group of students ever! You were so kind, well-behaved, smart and flat out fun to teach!!! And when I remember all of your generosity, the dress from Aminah, the gift cards left and right, the daily meals by Derren's aunt, all the ways you took care of me while I was sick, to name a few things... I feel so happy and sad all at the same time. I was just remembering how Angel would help me wipe down the door handles before leaving every day. What a good kid. You all were SO GOOD!!! I am the most proud teacher EVER!!! :)

So how are you all? What's new? Are you excited for summer break to come? When is your last day? It looks like I'll be driving up to Walnut to tutor some students from Collegewood two days a week this summer. I'll really be thinking about you all. Let me know if you'd be able to meet somewhere to hang out and see Kyle. I'd love to see your beautiful faces again.

I'll try to post again, soon. In the meantime... give yourself a big hug for me. And take care of yourself. And be nice to any M-Team member. Always say hi in the halls. Once an M-Teamer... always an M-Teamer.

Love always,
Mrs. Martin

My little one.

Someone asked for a picture... so how can I refuse? ;) Out of the thousands we've taken, here are just the first three in a recent folder.

Here he's learning his letters!

Going to school with Dad
Trying to walk!

If you have any specific questions or requests for Rudy stories, let me know. I'll write more later. I want to eat and enjoy this time while he's napping. Got to go!

Spring Break?

Hi everyone!
I don't know who checks this anymore. I've been a terrible blogger! I was thinking of you all today, and thought I'd sit down to write. Why was I thinking of you? Well, my classroom load of boxes and papers/posters are making our garage so crammed. The other day I couldn't even shut the door because my bookcase filled with boxes broke under the pressure and stopped the door from shutting. It was crazy trying to get the thing shut while holding Kyle. So today I was going to go and try to weed through the boxes and organize. I was 8 months pregnant when I loaded the whole thing and wasn't in exactly the best condition to be carrying all those heavy boxes. Anyhow, I think of all the memories of things I taught you in all those boxes. I have samples of your work, essays and so many memories in general.

How are you? What have you been up to? Did anyone do anything special for spring break? Any band concerts or plays I can come see you in? Always let me know. I may not be able to do it if Ru isn't home to watch Kyle while he sleeps, but I'll always try!

Hope you are well. Miss you!

Sorry to have missed you.

Hey guys,
Sorry I missed you yesterday. I was under the tree from 2:40 till just after 3:00. When I didn't see anybody, I left. I got to see a couple of students, a few of your moms and younger siblings. Being back at Vejar brought back so many memories. It feels like forever has gone by, so much has changed in my life. I loved teaching. Still do. As much as my heart truly, deeply loves and cares about you all, I'm glad I'm home this year. It's turned out to be quite a blessing in disguise to have lost my job. :) There's always a reason for something. Or, you can always find something good in things that happen to you.

Still, I would have loved to have seen you. Take care. I know you're all extremely busy and stressed!! Don't work too hard. Save your superhuman abilities for high school. You'll burn yourselves out if you're stressing too much right now. Breathe... breathe... and always, always talk to your teachers if you're feeling overwhelmed. They understand and will care about the students who honestly tell them so.

Good luck! :)
Love,
Mrs. Martin

Coming to Vejar!

Hi kids!

I wanted to let you all know that Kyle and I will be at Vejar on Monday (Feb 1). I'll try to stick around until the afternoon. I know I'll be there for lunch and then maybe come back for after school to see you guys, if you come. Kyle takes a nap around that time, so that's why I'm hesitant. I'll try though. And I'll try to be out front by the tree, so you'll know I'm there.

Ok? Hope this works out!

My son

Here's the latest Kyle picture. He's 6 months old and just got his first tooth!! :) He's crawling and into everything! He's Mr. Curious and likes everything and anything, but his favorite thing to do is watch cars go by outside. Parked cars aren't at all interesting, but the moving ones... oh, my!! :)

And the latest Rudy story... Ru found a box and instead of throwing it away, he went around our neighborhood asking if any of the little boys would like to have it to play with. Then they proceeded to play with the box (knights and warriors, Star Wars, etc.) all through their house and outside. From the sound of the boys' screaming, you'd think they were on a super fast, exciting roller coaster. It was entertaining to watch the boys have so much fun.

M-Team Memories...

Hey M-Team alumni!!
How are you? Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!! What did you do today?

Tell me one of your favorite M-Team memories. I could use a good laugh or a fun memory today. I was just laughing in my mind about Stephen's comment how I was so huge!! :) That was too funny. I miss seeing your smiles.

M-Team forever!!
